  1. Prepare your glass by rimming it with sugar. Moisten the rim of the glass with a lemon wedge, then dip it into a small plate filled with sugar, rotating the glass to coat the rim evenly.

  2. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.

  3. Add Cognac or Brandy, Triple Sec, and freshly squeezed lemon juice to the shaker.

  4. Shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds to chill the ingredients and combine the flavors.

  5. Strain the mixture into the prepared sugar-rimmed glass.
