Boodles British Gin history
A very posh gin with a not so posh history
When I say not so posh, I mean that as a compliment. When I begin talking about it, you’ll see that the Boodles British Gin history is one that’s fitting for a drink that’s both proper, but can be rough when it needs to be. I think it would be best of I stopped making you anticipate it, and just started on it then!
Boodles British Gin history
The Boodles British Gin history begins with a certain club in St. James’s, London, called Boodle’s gentleman’s club. The place was founded by Edward Boodle, in the early year of 1762. Boodles British Gin was allegedly the favorite gin of one of the toughest Brits to ever live, Winston Churchill.
The Boodles British Gin history really kicked off when the drink was created in 1845. This beverage was one of the ones that really made London Dry gin what it is today, including the typical flavor profile. And in 2013, it won a silver medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Boodles was initially manufactured by Cock Russel & Company, before eventually being bottled in the USA by Seagram. Unfortunately Seagram no longer exists, having sold it’s assets to several companies in 2001. Today, it’s owned by Proximo Spirits, which is a New Jersey based company.
And there you have it, the Boodles British Gin history. I highly recommend you try the original, or their mulberry gin, if you can find it!
