A Long Island Iced Tea is a sort of alcoholic mixed beverage typically made with vodka, tequila, light rum, triple sec, gin, and a splash of cola, which provides the drink the exact same amber colour as its namesake. It is so named due to the resemblance to the color of iced tea. A popular version combines equal parts vodka, gin, rum, triple sec, with 11/2 components sour mix and a splash of cola.
Most variants use equal parts of the main liquors, but include a smaller amount of triple sec (or alternative orange-flavored liqueur). Close variants often replace the sour combination with lemon juice, replace the cola with diet cola or actual green tea, or even include white crème de menthe. Most versions don’t include any tea.
