The story of this seldom-heard whiskey
Have you ever had Imperial BLue whiskey? It’s okay if the answer is no; I know that I definitely haven’t. In fact, I’ve rarely even seen it before; it’s not a more popular spirit. Normally when people think whiskey, they think of Jameson, Jack Daniels, Bushmills, Jim Beam, or a few others.
However, since I’ve began writing these liquor history articles, I’ve began to want to know all I can about as many brands as possible. And so, this seems like the perfect opportunity to learn more about the Imperial Blue history. And so, here it is for all you.
Imperial Blue history
The story behind this brand of whiskey isn’t very long, or compelling. Truth be told, Imperial Blue was started in 1997 by the company Seagram. It was first marketed as a whiskey to the country of India. In fact, it’s made with Indian grains, but the malts are imported; Scotch malts, to be specific.
But not long afterward, the Imperial Blue history took a turn. Seagram was bought out by both Pernod Ricard, and the infamous British liquor giant Diageo in 2001. Just a year later, Pernod Ricard took sole ownership of Imperial Blue’s India operations.
Advertising alcoholic beverages has been banned in India since 2000. However, Imperial BLue’s crafty advertising team has found a few ways around this little road block. Most notable of these was the movie launched in 2011, with the same name as Imperial Blue’s slogan: “men will be men.” Today, the beverage company sponsors other events such as music festivals, and in 2012 even became a sponsor for World Series Hockey. Today, the Imperial BLue history is alive and well, along with the brand.

Unfortunately, you can only use this service if you’re 21 or over. Saucey is very careful about making sure we operate within the parameters of the law. ID checks are necessary for every single delivery. Your delivery person will use a scanner to check your driver’s license, passport, or state-issued ID card. Your delivery will be given to you once your age has been verified via identification scan. Once that’s done, now you’re ready to drink your whiskey.
