1. Espresso Martini

The bold, dark, and delicious cousin to the classic Martini, the Espresso Martini is exactly what you need. An ounce of espresso for energy, an ounce of Kahlúa for courage, and an ounce of vodka because well, it’s a martini.

Fun Fact: The Espresso Martini originated in the 1980s when a (now) famous model walked into a British Pub and asked for a drink that would wake her up while being intoxicating. Dick Bradsel is credited with crafting her what he called the Vodka Espresso. Later called ‘Pharmaceutical Stimulant’, they finally landed on the now widely used ‘Espresso Martini’.

Ingredients

1 part  Kahlúa
1 part Absolut Vodka
1 part Espresso
Simple Syrup to taste optional

Directions

Shake the Kahlúa, Absolut Vodka and espresso together with plenty of ice. Strain into a cocktail glass.

2. Black Jack

Everything’s better with a cherry on top, and coffee cocktails are no exception. Made with a base of cold coffee and combined with cognac and cherry liqueur, you’ll be dreaming about this drink for days.

Cognac is basically concentrated wine, which is the perfect companion for cherry liqueur. Combine them with coffee, and you’ve got a caffeine infused cherry bomb, ready to detonate in drinkable form.

Ingredients

1 oz D’USSÉ VSOP
1 oz Dr. Mcgillicuddy’s Cherry Liqueur
1 oz Cold Coffee
Cherries and Sugar for garnish

Directions

Combine ingredients and shake over ice. Strain into sugar-rimmed glass. Garnish with skewered cherries.

3. Nose Warmer

nosewarmer

Cold weather got you down? Warm your nose, and the rest of your body, with a Nose Warmer cocktail. Made with hot coffee and a delicious combination of five complimenting liqueurs, this coffee cocktail is a little more complicated than the others. But, we promise it’s worth it.

Although we wouldn’t make this drink if we had somewhere to go, it’s definitely worth checking out, especially when snuggled up in a robe in front of a cozy fireplace. No need to put on pants, you can get it all delivered to your door in minutes. Just add coffee, and let us do the rest.

Ingredients

¼ oz Kahlúa
¼ oz Frangelico Hazelnut Liqueur

1 oz Absolut Vodka
¾ oz Espresso

5. Iced Paradise

Welcome to the Island of Energy. Iced coffee, spiced rum, and butterscotch Schnapps, this drink is a buttery island paradise. It is way better than overdone and artificial tasting ‘island’ drinks like the Bahama Mama. Plus, the coffee gives it (and you) just the right kick.

Ingredients

1 oz Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum
1 oz Bols Butterscotch Schnapps
6 oz Iced Coffee
Sugar
Whipped Cream and Coffee Beans for garnish

Directions

Combine in a glass with ice and stir. Add sugar to taste. Optional: Top with whipped cream and garnish with coffee beans.

After a single sip, you’ll be transported to a land where your wildest fantasies become a reality. Surely this must be heaven… but alas, it’s only Cloud 9. Alright, you won’t actually be transported anywhere, but this drink is pretty heavenly. Coffee combined with Irish Whiskey and Hazelnut Liqueur and chocolate syrup, why didn’t we think of this? It’s basically Nutella flavored Irish Coffee. Sounds like a great way to start the night!

Ingredients

1 oz Jameson Irish Whiskey
½ oz Frangelico Hazelnut Liqueur
½ oz Chocolate Syrup
1 Cup Coffee
Whipped Cream for Garnish

Directions

Combine in mug or heat-safe glass and stir.Top with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle.

7. B-52

b52

I know it’s shallow, but my favorite thing about this drink is the way it looks. It’s a beautifully layered shot that’s enough to convince yourself that you have calling in Mixology. Although there isn’t any actual coffee in it, it does have coffee flavored liqueur, which we’re totally counting. You can make these shots in under a minute, and drink them even quicker.

Fun Fact: The B-52 got its name from the iconic pop-band by the same name. The bartender who originally crafted the cocktail was a big fan of Love Shack, apparently.

Ingredients

1⁄3 oz Kahlúa
1⁄3 oz Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur
1⁄3 oz Grand Marnier Liqueur

Directions

Pour into shot glass in the order listed.

8. White Russian

whiterussian

I couldn’t make a list of coffee cocktails without giving a shout-out to an OG like the White Russian. A cocktail (and cinema) classic, the White Russian is a creamy and delicious coffee flavored cocktail. Made with Kahlúa, Vodka, and heavy cream, the coffee flavor is definitely subtle. This one is for coffee drinkers that like more cream than coffee. If it’s good enough for the Dude, it’s good enough for me. This drink abides.

Ingredients

1 part Kahlúa
1 part Absolut Vodka
1 part Heavy Cream

Directions

Fill a rocks glass with ice cubes. Add Kahlúa and Absolut Vodka, finish up with a cream layer.
