4 Must-Have Cocktails for National Tequila Day

Your favorite holiday you never knew about is almost here: National Tequila Day is on July 24.

We get it. You have some questions, such as: “Am I the only one who didn’t know this was a thing?” (certainly not) or “When was National Tequila Day established?” (literally no one knows) or “Was this holiday invented by my ex so that I would be tricked into texting them back?” (uh oh). 

Some valid questions. But let’s be honest, there’s only one that really matters: What are you drinking to celebrate this hallowed day? We have some thoughts & opinions:

Don Julio Blanco Margarita

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Don Julio Blanco Tequila
  • 1 1/2 oz. fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz. agave nectar 
  • 1 oz. soda

Lime wedge garnish

How to make a Don Julio Blanco Margarita: 

Combine Don Julio Blanco, fresh lime juice, and agave nectar in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake it like you mean it. Strain into a rocks glass over ice, top with soda, and garnish with a lime wedge.

Don Julio Paloma

Ingredients:

  • 1½ oz. Don Julio Blanco Tequila
  • 1 oz. fresh grapefruit juice
  • ½ oz. fresh lime juice
  • 1oz. seltzer or soda water

Chili powder garnish

How to make a Don Julio Paloma:

Combine Don Julio Blanco, fresh lime juice and fresh grapefruit juice in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake, shake, shake, shake, shake. Strain contents into a glass over fresh ice. Top with seltzer or soda water and garnish with chili powder.

Don Julio Lemonada

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ oz. Don Julio Blanco Tequila
  • 3 oz. cold water
  • ¾ oz. fresh lemon juice
  • 8-10 fresh mint leaves
  • 1-2 tsp sugar or simple syrup
  • 10-15 ice cubes

How to make a Don Julio Lemonada:

Combine lemon Juice, mint leaves, and sugar or simply syrup in a blender. Pulse a few times until mint leaves are finely chopped. Add tequila and cold water and pulse again to mix it all together, then add ice cubes. Blend until it resembles a slushie. Pour it into a glass and garnish with your extra mint leaves.

Don Julio Rosa Primavera

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ oz. Don Julio Reposado
  • 1 oz. coconut cream
  • ¾ oz. fresh lemon juice
  • 1 muddled strawberry
  • Extra strawberries for garnish

How to make a Don Julio Rosa Primavera:

Combine all ingredients in a shaker. Shake it like nobody’s business. Strain into rocks glass over ice. Garnish with half a strawberry.
