How to Drink Like a President

Because we’re so glad this fucking election is over.

November 8th is finally upon us. This election cycle was brutal (to say the least). It has left everyone a little more anxious and a little more stressed out. What better time to kick back, order your favorite brew, and forget all the drama the past year has brought.

The only difference? Tonight we’re drinking like presidents.

Franklin D. Roosevelt

Franklin D. Roosevelt was the only president to be elected to 4 terms. Was it because his New Deal lifted the country out of The Great Depression? Nah. It’s because he ended prohibition. Everyone loved him and he loved martinis. If you want to be like FDR order up some Hendrick’s Gin, Martini and Rossi Vermouth, and start shakin’.

Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson spent time in Burgundy and Bordeaux where he developed a taste for the finer French wines. He who said, “Good wine is a necessity of life for me” spent much of his importing it, and died with insurmountable debt because of it. So order a bottle of Louis Jadot from Saucey and let’s drink to the end of campaign attack ads.

Grover Cleveland

Grover Cleveland may have never gotten stuck in a bathtub, but his nickname was “Uncle Jumbo.” An undeniable beer belly attributed to much of the president’s 250 pound frame. At one point he attempted to limit himself to 4 beers a day but found it an impossible task. That’s our kind of guy. Get your Grover Cleveland on and stock your fridge full of Budweiser.

John F. Kennedy

John F. Kennedy was the first televised president. The nation’s eyes were always on him so it only makes sense that he was often seen with the most trendy drinks of the time. “Imported” Heineken beer, Daiquiris, and Bloody Mary’s were his favorite. With a little Grey Goose and Mr. and Mrs. T Bloody Mary Mix you can be just like ol’ Jack. Just don’t forget the celery.

George Washington

George Washington enjoyed drinking a dark porter laced with molasses. More interesting though, is the fact that he was once the largest whiskey producer in the nation. The guy fought for our independence, became our first president, AND distilled his own whiskey?? Order up a bottle of Bulleit Bourbon and imagine he made it. That’s what America tastes like, baby!
