5 Mezcal Cocktails You Need to Try

GRILLED PINEAPPLE MARGARITA

MAKES 1 COCKTAIL
TIME: 5 MINUTES 

Ingredients:

1 oz. Zignum Reposado Mezcal
1 oz. Casamigos Blanco Tequila
1 1-inch pineapple round
1 oz. lime juice
1/2 oz. pineapple juice
3/4 oz. agave syrup
1 lime wheel, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Grill pineapple, turning once, until seared on both sides for 1-2 minutes. Cut pineapple into 4 chunks.
  2. Muddle together lime juice, pineapple juice, agave and 3 chunks of grilled pineapple. Add mezcal, tequila and ice. Shake well and strain into glass over ice.
  3. Garnish with remaining pineapple and lime wheel. Cheers!

 

GREEN JUICE

MAKES 1 COCKTAIL
TIME: 10 MINUTES 

Ingredients:

1 oz. Del Maguey Mezcal
1 oz. fresh celery juice
1 oz. cucumber juice
3/4 oz. fresh lime juice
2 tsp. agave
Cucumber, for garnish

Sea salt, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Combine celery juice, cucumber juice, mezcal, lime juice and agave diluted with 2 tsp hot water in ice-filled shaker.
  2. Strain into collins glass with 1 large cube.
  3. Garnish with cucumber and sea salt. Cheers!

PUNCH OF THE YEAR AWARD

SERVES 8-10
TIME: 20 MINUTES 

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups Hendrick’s Gin
1/2 cup Fidencio Classico Mezcal
4 lemons
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup raspberries
3/4 cup fresh lemon juice
1 liter sparkling water
Lemon wheels, to garnish
Freshly grated nutmeg, to garnish

Instructions:
  1. Day before: Fill 1-quart container with water and freeze to make ice block. Peel zest from lemon and place in glass jar with sugar. Seal and shake the jar. Let stand in warm place for 24-hours to allow infusion.
  2. Add raspberries to the jar and muddle until crushed. Press on solids to extract juice and pour into bowl. Stir gin and mezcal. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  3. Pour punch into 1-gallon bowl and stir in sparkling water. Add ice block. Garnish with lemon and nutmeg. Cheers!

 

BLACKBERRY SAGE

MAKES 1 COCKTAIL
TIME: 10 MINUTES 

Ingredients:

2 oz. Xicaru Silver Mezcal
1 oz. grapefruit juice (freshly squeezed)
3 large blackberries
8 sage leaves
2 cane sugar cubesInstructions:
  1. Muddle blackberry, sage and sugar in shaker. Add mezcal, grapefruit juice and crushed ice.
  2. Shake well, and pour into 12-oz rocks glass or mason jar
  3. Garnish with sage and serve. Cheers!

 

RUBY RED

MAKES 4 COCKTAILS
TIME: 10 MINUTES 

Ingredients:

8 oz. Montelobos Mezcal
3 cups ruby red grapefruit juice
4 tsp fresh lime juice
MintInstructions:
  1. In a pitcher, combine mezcal, grapefruit juice and fresh lime juice. Stir gently with ice.
  2. Divide among four glasses filled with ice.
  3. Garnish with mint and serve. Cheers!
