How To Make A French 75

With only four ingredients, the French 75 takes minimal effort to make and delivers maximum flavor. This cocktail features gin, lemon, simple syrup and champagne, all flavorful ingredients that, when mixed, provide a light, bubbly, toast-worthy drink.

makes one cocktail

For the simple syrup:
1 lemon (for squeezing juice and infusing into simple syrup)
1 cup water
1/2 cup honey

For the cocktail:
1 ounce gin or Cognac
1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 ounce lemon infused simple syrup
2 ounces Champagne
Lemon twist, for garnish

For the lemon-infused simple syrup: bring 1 cup of water and washed lemon (leftover from the squeezing the lemon juice) to a boil. Add honey to pot and stir, until completely dissolved. Let cool for 5 mins then remove lemon.
For the cocktail: Combine the gin or Cognac, freshly squeezed lemon juice and the simple syrup in an ice-filled shaker. Shake the contents well until chilled, about 10 seconds. Pour over into champagne flute, then top with champagne. Garnish with lemon twist and enjoy.
