How To Charge A Juul Without A Charger

Ahh, the sweet, sweet nectar that is a Juul. It’s a cool device, really. A vaping device that was created to help smokers stop smoking? Hell yeah, and it does the job wonderfully. However, without its very own charger port, it’s hard to reap the benefits. The Juul charger port is a tiny device with a dock for your Juul and a USB port. That’s it – no frills. You can plug it into a computer to charge or any other outlet that works with a USB and has your Juul fully charged in an hour.

Now, if you take the charging port out of the picture, it seems impossible to charge the Juul. You’re lucky we’re here because boy, do we have news for you.

Before we get into the whole Frankenstein of a Juul charger, you should know that there are knock-off Juul chargers you can buy online or in smoke shops. So, the first piece of advice is to stock up on a couple of those bad boys.

Losing your Juul charger is tragic. We hope that you use this DIY hack (you’re a DIY rockstar now) to bring it back to life, or at least go run to your nearest smoke shop and buy some knock-off chargers. Either way, you’ll be back to puffing in no time.

*WARNING* DO NOT CUT THE WIRES WHILE THE CORD IS PLUGGED IN. THIS COULD LEAD TO ELECTROCUTION, AND WE DON’T WANT YOU TO GET ELECTROCUTED.

  1. Take your cable that has a USB on one end of it. This could be as simple as an old iPhone or Android cable.
  2. Use your wire cutters to cut off the other end of the cord, leaving the USB side intact.
  3. Once you’ve successfully cut off the opposite end, cut about 2-3 inches down the cord, exposing the wires. Your goal here is to free the wires from the chord. These wires are what are going to charge your Juul.
  4. When the wires are free, untangle them all and look for red and black wires. You will use those to attach to the Juul.
  5. Separate the red and black wires from the rest, and pull back the remaining wires and tape them around the cord with electrical tape – you don’t need them, and you’ll want them safely out of the way.
  6. You’ll notice a plastic casing around the wires. You’ll need to cut through them just a tiny bit just so the wire is out in the open. Maybe a ½ inch-1 inch.
  7. Once the wires are free from their casing, twist the red wire until there are no more frills in the wire, then do the same to the black. You’ll be left with two pretty sturdy, pointy-looking wires.
  8. Grab your Juul, put it on a flat surface, and make sure the light flashes when charging is facing up.
  9. Connect the red and black wires to the outermost golden slots of the Juul. Don’t use the middle golden slots. That will not work.
  10. Once they’re secured, plug in your device, and BOOM. You’ll see your Juul light flashing, and that means it’s charging.
